How MusicBridge Works

Learn how to transfer your music between platforms and use our features safely and effectively.

Authentication & Permissions

OAuth Authentication
Secure access to your music accounts

MusicBridge uses OAuth 2.0, a secure industry-standard protocol, to connect to your music streaming accounts. This means:

  • We never see or store your passwords
  • You authenticate directly with the music service (Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.)
  • You can revoke access at any time from your music service account settings

When you click "Connect" for any platform, you'll be redirected to that service's login page to authorize MusicBridge.

Required Permissions
What we need access to and why

MusicBridge requests the following permissions:

  • Read your playlists and library - To identify what music you want to transfer
  • Create and modify playlists - To create new playlists on your destination platform
  • Add tracks to your library - To save transferred music to your library

We only request the minimum permissions needed to provide our service. We cannot delete your existing content.

How Our Features Work

Music Transfer

Our transfer process works by matching songs between platforms using metadata like artist name, track title, and album name. Here's how it works:

  1. Connect to your source platform (where your music currently is)
  2. Connect to your destination platform (where you want to transfer music to)
  3. Select which playlists and/or library items you want to transfer
  4. Our system searches for matching tracks on the destination platform and creates new playlists
  5. You'll see real-time progress and any tracks that couldn't be found

Not all tracks may be available on every platform due to licensing differences. We'll show you which tracks couldn't be found.

Duplicate Removal

Our duplicate detection system identifies songs that appear multiple times in your library or playlists. It works by:

  • Analyzing track metadata (artist, title, album, duration)
  • Identifying exact matches and potential duplicates
  • Showing you groups of duplicate tracks
  • Letting you choose which versions to keep

You always have final control over which tracks are removed. We'll never delete anything without your explicit confirmation.

Mood Playlists (Coming Soon)

Our upcoming mood playlist feature will analyze your music library and create custom playlists based on:

  • Track tempo, energy, and acoustic features
  • Genre classifications
  • Your listening history and preferences

This feature is still in development. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it launches!
